HLD350 MK2 and HLD2000 MK2 are hydraulic linear drives designed for boats with mechanical steering systems such as wire and cable steering (Edson, Whitlock, Teleflex). Linear drives are the most preferred on sailboats, attached to the quadrant or tiller, supplying direct control, avoiding slack in wires or cables. The HLD includes a reversible hydraulic pump, a balanced hydraulic cylinder, bypass valve and oil tank. Because of the direct connection to the rudder, the hydraulic linear drive can be used even if the hand steering should fail, an important safety factor. The bypass allows you to use the helm with little back-drive force when the autopilot is switched off. Split version has the pump separated from the ram and interconnected with 3' hoses, making the installation more convenient when space becomes a problem. Dual ram version for larger sailboats. « less
